Convert HEIC to JPG

HEIC is the format iPhones and iPads have saved photos in by default since iOS 11.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

Drop your HEIC files onto the panel above and press Convert. A whole folder at once is fine, and the JPG files download individually or as a single ZIP.

Quality is the one setting worth a glance, and 85 or above is visually indistinguishable from the original for photographs. Conversion here runs at maximum quality by default, so you only need to touch it if a smaller file matters more than fidelity — and if it does, compressing afterwards gives you finer control.

Nothing is uploaded. The decoders and encoders run as WebAssembly inside this page, which is why there is no file-size limit, no queue, and no copy of your image on anyone's server.

Why convert HEIC to JPG?

HEIC is the format iPhones and iPads have saved photos in by default since iOS 11.

It is efficient, but plenty of places still reject it: older Windows installs, many websites and upload forms, print services, and most non-Apple photo software. Converting to JPG turns the photo into a file that opens everywhere, unchanged to look at.

What JPG does to file size

Expect the JPG to be larger — often 1.5 to 2 times the HEIC — because HEIC's HEVC-based compression is genuinely better.

That is the price of universal compatibility. If size matters more than reach, convert to WebP or AVIF instead.

Only the still image is converted. A Live Photo's motion and audio live in the HEIC container and cannot travel into a JPG, and depth or portrait-mode data is dropped too. Keep the original if you want those.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert HEIC to JPG?

Drop your HEIC files above, choose JPG as the output, and press Convert. The files are decoded and re-encoded at maximum quality inside your browser, then download individually or as a ZIP — no upload, no account, no watermark.

Can I convert my whole camera roll?

AirDrop or copy the .heic files to your computer, drop the entire set here at once, and download the results as a single ZIP. Nothing is uploaded, so a few hundred photos is a matter of local processing time rather than bandwidth. You can also stop iPhone producing HEIC in future: Settings, Camera, Formats, Most Compatible.

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so the image is re-encoded — at maximum quality, where the difference is imperceptible for photographs. Only the still image is converted. A Live Photo's motion and audio live in the HEIC container and cannot travel into a JPG, and depth or portrait-mode data is dropped too. Keep the original if you want those.

Can I just rename the file to .jpg?

No. The extension only labels the file, while the bytes inside follow the structure of a specific format. Renaming produces a file most software refuses to open. A real conversion decodes the image and re-encodes it in the new format, which is what happens here.
